Thatch Caye Resort is a scuba diving destination located on a private island off the coast of Belize. The Resort is 9 miles off of Dangriga, which is a short flight from Belize City. Thatch Caye Resort has 15 accommodations for 30 guests onsite at a time. The rooms range from Premier Overwater bungalow, overwater bungalows, to island cabanas. The rooms feature AC, ensuite bathrooms, and hair dryers. Electronic distractions such as phones, tv’s, and wifi can be found available in the common area at the Coco Lounge Bar. Thatch Caye Resort Diving
Belize Underwater is the onsite scuba diving resource. They have a fleet of boats that may take up to 22 divers at a time. In addition, they typically do 5-day scuba packages with two tanks a day or larger packages that include trips out to Glover’s Reef
and the Great Blue Hole
. So, they also do snorkeler trips and private charters as well. Moreover, they provide scuba dive instruction especially for those that would like to take specialty classes such as multi-level diver, deep diver, and drift diver to name a few. So, out here at Thatch Caye Resort, you may experience wall dives from 40-60ft deep.
The Great Blue Hole goes down to 400ft, but most of the 500 species of fish, 65 species of hard coral, and assorted numbers of turtles are viewed well within recreational dive limits. You may also see a whale shark, manta ray, and/or possibly even a manatee.
Attractions and Activities
At Thatch Caye Resort, breakfast is at the Coco Lounge while lunch and dinner are at The Grove open air community area. Snacks and beverages are also the Coco Lounge Bar and at the overwater Starfish Bar. While staying here, you may wish to paddle board or go kayaking. Furthermore, you can go snorkeling in the ocean, or swim in the pool. There is also the Blue Horizon Fly Fishing Rod Room, and Yoga and fitness is practiced down at Serenity Point. Above all, you can get a private oceanside massage, or a deep tissue or hot stone body treatment.
