The Phinisi is a 112ft long traditional Indonesian sailing yacht. This scuba diving schooner has 4 different trips that begin and end in Thailand. The sail/motor ship has 7 guest cabins on the lower deck. So, they have 3 Double/ Twin Cabins, 2 Fixed Twin Cabins, and 2 Quad cabins. The Phinisi Diving
You can choose from several scuba diving itineraries. So, you can go on a 4 or 6-night Similan and Surin Islands trip, the Southern Explorer trip, the Mergui Archipelago trip, or the Best of Thailand trip. 2 tenders (dhoni) transport divers to and from The Phinisi. More importantly, expect to see whale sharks, mantas leopard sharks, black tips and more. Expect to see gray sharks, eagle rays, and shovel nose rays, as well as ribbon eels, pipefish, Andaman sweetlips, rabbitfish, and cowrie shells. Jacque Cousteau filmed the mantas and whale sharks that made Richelieu Rock world famous. Lastly, you may go all the way to Burma Banks and the Mergui Archipelago.
Technically, while up north on The Phinisi, you are diving off Myanmar’s reefs, which are seldom if ever visited by throngs of other divers. You can drift dive with mantas, white tips, silver tips, and whale sharks, or hang out with nurse sharks, frogfish, crab, shrimp, and lobsters. Central dive sites have lots of caves, caverns and chimneys to explore. Southern dive sites also have swim throughs, drop offs, and pinnacles to explore.
Attractions and Activities
Western favorites, local Thai cuisine and vegetarian dishes (if requested) are cooked buffet style. Beer and wine are also available. So, the outdoor dining area is covered to provide both shade and a spectacular view of the sea. The ship has a battery charging station, nitrox is available, and they are rebreather friendly.
