The actual hotel didn't start life until 1947 and now has almost 150 rooms. There are at least 9 types of rooms from deluxe, superior, to apartments with various numbers of rooms. Each room has a balcony or patio, blackout drapes, a desk, a private bathroom, and with hairdryer. Avila Beach Hotel Diving

The hotel is a partner of Oceans Encounters Curacao. They have dive centers nearby in both LionsDive and Sunscape Resort. Ocean Encounters is the largest scuba diving school in Curacao. They are a one stop dive shop, servicing all your rental, excursion or learning needs. While staying at Avila Beach Hotel, each morning, you could be enjoying a one or two tank dive excursion to some 50 dive sites. Ocean Encounters schedule night boat dives, florescent night dives, lion fish dives, as well as trips to Mushroom Forest and Blue Room of Klien Curacao-East Point. Some of the popular local dive sites include: Basora, Rediho, Watamula, Shark Cave, Alice in Wonderland, Hell's Corner, Airplane Wreck, and Superior Producer Wreck. Ocean Encounters can arrange animal encounter dives at the nearby Dolphin Academy and Curacao Sea Aquarium.

Attractions and Activities

Avila Beach Hotel has three main restaurants. The Pen has regional cuisine including Keshi Yena, which is a cheese dish stuffed with spicy chicken and fried plantains; and Gouda until the last bite. The Blues Bar and Restaurant serves dinner most nights of the week. Avila cafe is the goto breakfast and brunch location. The Schooner Bar and the Pool Bar serve lighter fare. Did we mention that while staying at the Avila Beach Resort, you can have a dinner on the beach arranged? So, to relax you may want to find a lounge chair at one of the two private beaches, Float in the infinity pool, or visit the spa. If you prefer to exercise, they have a fitness gym. You can also rent bicycles, or go snorkeling in either of the man-made lagoons. You can also go golfing at the Old Quarry.
Moreover, on site they have the Avila Shop, a hairdresser, and the Octagonal museum featuring the history of the hotel as well as Simon Bolivar. Finally, several of the best restaurants in Curacao are within walking distance.
