Juliana’s Hotel

About Juliana’s Hotel

Juliana's Hotel is located in the town of Windwardside on Saba Island. This scuba diving island is east of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, northwest of St. Kitts and Nevis, or southwest of St. Maarten/St. Marten. The resort has 14 accommodations. So, they have 3 cottages, 2 suites, 6 ocean view rooms, and 3 garden view rooms. Some of the accommodations have kitchenettes. At Juliana's Hotel, air conditioning, ceiling fans and showers come standard. There are no bathtubs, as water is a commodity collected from rainfall for some 2,000 locals including medical students living on the island. You may wish to lounge around all day and occasionally glance at the spectacular ocean view, but local chickens, goats, and doves will subtly remind you that you are missing out on some great diving. Juliana's Hotel Diving

For scuba diving guests, Juliana's partners up with Sea Saba Advanced Dive Center seamlessly. They can even include the taxi down the hill to Fort Bay Harbor and back, which makes it very convenient. Sea Saba has two 40' long boats complete with fly bridges. They are rated for 20 passengers each, but they only take out a max of 10 divers each for comfort and safety. The waters around Juliana's Hotel on Saba are a designated marine park, so expect to see lots of marine life around a total of 30 dive sites. Saba has volcanic origins and while diving out here you may still come across areas of sand that are still quite hot, such as at the dive site Babylon. The volcanic activity has also produced surrounding seamounts and many pinnacles rising above the sea floor. So, back at your room at Juliana's Hotel, you'll have to write in your log book that both Twilight Zone and Green Island are typical yet impressive pinnacles. Mt. Mitchel has two pinnacles. In addition, Porites Point has a great drop off. Big Rock Deep has deep overhangs. Shark Shoals has pelagics such as mahi mahi and wahoo, and Mooring is a muck dive/macro wonderland. So, also make a note that Sea Saba has Nitrox available and they have scuba dive instruction courses too.

Attractions and Activities
