Volivoli Beach Resort Diving

Ra Divers is the onsite scuba diving center. They use three custom built boats to take you out to over 80 local dive sites. So in this part of Fiji you are scuba diving the Bligh Water and Vatu-I-Ra Passage. Large pelagic are frequent visitors, but everyone wants to see the white frog fish. Around Volivoli Beach Resort there are drift dives, wall dives, swim throughs, pinnacles and shallow dives across bommies. Some aptly named sites nearby include: The Arches, Cannibal Cave, Blue Wall, Cathedrals, and Bat Reef.  The picturesque dive site E6 is named after the slide film so heavily used here during non-digital era. In addition, they have a few wrecks like the Papuan Explorer, and the large Ovalau car ferry.

Attractions and Activities

The Pool Bar is an oasis beside the ocean. This is a tranquil place where guests can relax on a lounge chair. You can also sip exotic drinks while basking in the Fijian sun, or cool off at the swim up bar. At Volivoli Beach Resort enjoy an informal poolside lunch menu with salads, sandwiches and refreshing cold desserts. Nuku Bar and Grill is located in the main complex and overlooks the swimming pool and nearby Bligh Water. Nuku Restaurant offers a five star culinary experience. Hand selected fresh fruits and vegetables are prepared daily. More importantly, they also use environmental responsible fish caught locally. The Ra Bar and restaurant is right on the beach and next to the dive shop. They serve gourmet pizzas, fish and chips, and even hot dogs. Beside all the water activities, beautiful sunbathing spots, and nightly entertainment and culture, you can also visit a local village or tour the nearby town of Rakiraki.

Volivoli Beach Resort - Viti Levu, Fiji

If you have booked transfers with your package, upon arrival in Nadi, outside the customs area you will see a Pehicle Tours representative holding a “Volivoli Beach Resort” Sign. The representative will assist you with your bags and get you settled into your vehicle. The scenic transfer to Volivoli Beach Resort using the Queen’s Road takes approximately 2.5 hours with limited services along the way. Check-in is at 2PM. If you arrive before 2PM, you are welcome to store your luggage with the resort and enjoy the amenities on the property while you wait for your room to be ready.
The Westpac ATM inside the airport offers a favorable exchange rate using your debit card. Alternatively, you may exchange USD dollars at the money exchange inside the baggage claim or outside of customs (service fee of 15 FJD). There is an ATM in Rakiraki town (15 minutes from the resort).
Wifi is available to purchase and is included in some of our packages.
Breakfast is served from 6:30AM - 9AM at the Nuku Restaurant; Lunch (2 courses) is served at the Nuku restaurant from 12noon - 2:30pm and dinner (3 courses) from 5:30PM to 9pm. All meals are ala carte. The full board meal plan starts with Lunch on arrival day and ends with breakfast on departure day. The Ra Bar is open 11 AM - 5:30 PM. The Ra Bar has a more limited menu than the Nuku Bar but features staples such as personal pizzas, fish & chips, burgers etc. Lunch at the Ra Bar is included in the full meal plan and other snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Our Lovo feast and Meke performance is held at the Ra Bar, and typically on Thursday evening. Our Beach BBQ is served at the Ra Bar, and typically on Sunday evening.
Shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion is provided in all rooms. There are locking drawers in the rooms which act as room safes. We have hairdryers available at the front desk that guests may "check out" for their entire stay. We have a conference room and multimedia center for use, advance reservations required.
Yes, the resort has type I sockets and 220V; adapters are required for US and Canadian appliances.
We have a Christmas Fund for our Dive staff and another for our resort staff. Contribution to these funds must be in cash. Fiji Dollars are preferred but all cash is accepted.
In 2018 the Vatu I Ra Conservation park was established with the help of the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Fijian Government. Since this area is extremely important to Volivoli and Ra Divers, we do collect a park fee to help fund the park (paid at check out). These fees go toward education programs for our local communities as well as to park management. On average Volivoli Beach Resort's park fees as well as additional donations from our guests accounted for 60% of the total revenue collected by the park each year.
A liability waiver, rental agreement and nitrox waiver will be filled out at orientation upon arrival. These forms are not accepted ahead of time and certification cards need to be presented to Ra Divers Staff upon the completion of these forms. If you have not dived in the past 12 months we highly recommend a refresher. We offer these on site with advance notice, or you can do this prior to arrival with your local dive shop.
Boat diving will begin the day after arrival. On your first day of diving, please be at the dive shop at least 30 minutes before the boats’ departure to prepare your gear and turn in any missing paperwork. The boats depart at 8 AM each day for either a 2-tank dive or a 3-tank dive. On the 3 tank dive days we get back at approx. 3 PM and provide a packed lunch on the boat, on 2 tank dive days we get back at approx. 1 PM. Shore diving on our 3 house reefs is available all day (24x7x365), however our staff leaves at 5pm so tanks for night dives need to be reserved before 4:30 PM.
Yes Nitrox is available, and highly recommended, this can be pre-paid. We ask divers to please advise in advance wherever possible the gas i.e. nitrox or air, that wish to use so we can ensure as seamless as possible for their first day of diving as our crew load the boats the day prior.
Rental gear is available on site. Please pre-reserve any items you need with your reservation office. Rental regulators have computers on them, we do not have any wrist computers. Computers are required when diving with Ra Divers. Wetsuits are 3mm, full length. Prices on request.
All tanks are DIN with Yoke inserts. NO adaptors are needed for DIN or YOKE regulators. Diving packages include 80cf tanks for boar diving and for shore diving. We have limited 100cf and 63 cf tanks available filled exclusively filled with nitrox at an additional charge. Availability of these is first-come first-serve, please reserve ahead of arrival.
We have 2 primary dive boats and 1 dual purpose fishing and diving boat. The Bligh explorer and the Ra Explorer are our primary dive boats. The Bligh holds 18 divers, and the Ra holds 14 divers.
Our boat dives are guided by our professional, local dive guides. We allow 6 divers to 1 guide maximum. Private guides can be requested and secured for an additional fee.
We have a world-class camera room with 14 stations at the dive center. Each workstation is set up with international and USB charging points and their own individual air guns.

Had a great two week trip to Fiji both resort's dive areas had their own vibe and special corals and creatures. Both Volivoli and Paradise Taveuni resorts were top notch. You might consider not diving a day to see the waterfalls and do a village visit on another top side day but we dove every day two tank and some house reef time.

Fiji was wonderful! Volivoli is awesome! We would definitely recommend it! We lucked out and stayed during a slow week between busy weeks with dive groups. We had 2 days where we were the only ones diving! So cool because we along with our dive guide saw a manta ray - which apparently never happens! (And it was the day after my birthday!!) The food was great! (Service was sometimes an issue but probably because it was a slow week!) They did an awesome job for my birthday! Lots of surprises including a bottle of champagne and a birthday cake!! Oh and our room with the private pool was the best we ever have had!!!
